Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration pathway under Canada's Express Entry system, designed for foreign workers who have gained work experience in Canada and wish to apply for permanent residency.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Work Experience

You must have at least one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years. The work experience must fall under the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) categories:

  • NOC TEER 0: Management jobs
  • NOC TEER 1: Professional jobs
  • NOC TEER 2 and TEER 3: Skilled trades and technical jobs

2. Language Proficiency

You must meet the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) requirements:

  • CLB 7: For NOC TEER 0 or 1 jobs
  • CLB 5: For NOC TEER 2 or 3 jobs

Test results must be from an approved test, such as IELTS or CELPIP, and should be valid for two years.

3. Education

While there is no mandatory education requirement, having Canadian or foreign educational credentials can improve your ranking in the Express Entry pool.

4. Status in Canada

You must have valid temporary resident status and authorization to work while gaining the required work experience.

5. Settlement in Canada

You must intend to live outside the province of Quebec, as it has its own immigration system.

6. Proof of Funds

Proof of funds is not required if you are applying under the CEC.

How to Apply

Step 1: Create an Express Entry Profile

Create an Express Entry profile online, providing details about your work experience, education, language skills, and other information.

Step 2: Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA)

If your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is high enough, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

Step 3: Submit Your Application

After receiving the ITA, submit your application within 60 days, including documents like work experience letters, language test results, and police clearance certificates.

Step 4: Processing

Applications are usually processed within six months under the Express Entry system.
